Who We Are
S.M.I.L.E. is a national Community based education organisation, NGO, Section 21 Company, Public Benefit Organisation working in partnership with Independent and Community Primary and High schools throughout South Africa.
What We Do
We do many things at S.M.I.L.E., all focused on equipping teachers with the best tools possible to ensure they succeed at teaching English.
Where We’re From
Although we provide our products and skills across the length and breadth of South Africa, we are based on the grounds of St. Mary’s School in Kloof, Durban.
I just got home from a 2 hour workshop and I’m feeling so inspired and motivated! I learnt so many valuable tools to apply to my classroom. I am so grateful for this workshop. Thanks Daniela Browne for your passion, it was such a breath of fresh air.

Your books are without doubt the most comprehensive language textbooks I have ever seen. We thank you for your hard work and dedication. It is very comforting to know that we as teachers have angels like you out there identifying the needs of our country and doing everything you can to improve the language proficiency of our learners.

It is a great privilege for our English Department to be included in your pilot programme for the Interactive English Home Language Textbooks across all grades. The layout of the SMILE Textbooks is superb. The learners respond well to the size of the text/ font and colour of images. The level is appropriate for English Home Language even though many of our learners are second or even third English language speakers. The SMILE Textbooks are a pleasure to use.
